A hopper located on the side of the grill is filled with wood pellets, which are then fed into a fire pot by an auger. An electric fan in the fire pot ignites the pellets and blows air into the fire pot to keep the pellets burning. The heat and smoke produced by the burning pellets are then channeled into the cooking chamber, where they cook the food placed on the grates.
